Winter Wedding in Oxford
Winter Wedding in Oxford. Did I ever tell you how much I love winter weddings? They hold a particular charm here in central Oxford. Situated by two rivers, the town centre often becomes enveloped in fog, creating perfect conditions for photography. On one such foggy day exactly one year ago, I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Laura and Ashley. Their ceremony took place in the Convocation House, with the reception held at the Ashmolean Museum. More information about Oxford University wedding venues is available here.
Bridal Preparation
Laura prepared for her big day at Mercure Oxford Eastgate Hotel near the Bodleian Library. Surrounded by their family and friends, Laura and Ashley exchanged their vows in the spectacular Convocation House. Since winter days are short, we quickly sneaked out for a photo session immediately after the ceremony. The lighting in Oxford was exquisite, and Laura and Ashley relished their first moments as a married couple, prompting us to stay outdoors a bit longer to capture some stunning sunset photos.
Wedding Breakfast
Following a drinks reception in the Bodleian Library, we headed to the Ashmolean Museum. As the world’s first university museum, it provided a unique setting for the wedding celebrations. Guests enjoyed mingling in the Atrium before being seated for dinner in the Greek and Roman sculpture gallery. After the speeches concluded, the newlyweds and I embarked on another photo shoot. Given the chilly winter evening, we opted for the warmth of the Ashmolean’s European gallery for the evening photoshoot.
