Wedding at Stratton Court Barn. In early January this year, I had the pleasure of photographing Amy and Ethan’s wedding at Stratton Court Barn. The bride and groom live full-time in Australia, but they chose to get married here in Amy’s homeland.
Stratton Court Barn, a cosy wedding venue located in Stratton Audley near Bicester, boasts a rustic charm with its Cotswold stone construction, first erected in 1870. It’s the perfect spot for couples like Amy and Ethan who appreciate rustic vibes and the great outdoors.
The wedding itself exuded a cosmopolitan atmosphere, with many guests travelling from overseas to take part in Amy and Ethan’s celebration. The couple did a fantastic job of organizing a stylish English wedding while incorporating touching international details such as pins with UK and USA flags, and more.
Wedding Day
The morning was sunny and crisp when I arrived at Manor Farm in Poundon, where Ethan was getting ready. After the preparations, I still had some time left to capture a moment of Ethan, his parents, and the groomsmen relaxing and raising a toast before leaving for Stratton Court.
Amy and her three bridesmaids were getting ready in the bridal suite located in the attic above the ceremony room. This convenient location ensured the bride’s privacy and ensured she remained unseen until her grand entry. Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that this option is priceless on rainy days!
The exchange of vows was emotional and heartwarming. Amy’s grandad, who officiated the ceremony, wove little personal stories into the nuptial narrative. During the drinks reception, I captured some family portraits in the quad. Don’t be deceived by the sunshine in the photos—the temperature on the day was close to zero Celsius degrees. Therefore, we decided to split the outdoor session into a few shorter bits.
In the evening, Amy and her dad surprised everybody with an excellent and hilarious dance performance. As soon as they finished, the guests quickly joined them on the dancefloor. By the time I was leaving, the entire room was packed with a dancing and swirling crowd.
